DIY Mudroom

When we built the small addition onto the side of the house I had dreams of a mudroom. My dear dad who built the entire thing, did not understand/care about  a mudroom. So, I ended up with a small hallway with a closet. Dad said, “You can hide your shoes and jackets in the closet.” Well, unfortunately we had not yet become clever enough to buy a closet organizer for our bedroom closet and so the hallway closet became P.J.’s clothes closet. With that said, we still had no home for jackets, purses, backpacks, and all the other things that will end up on the kitchen table. So, with help from the internet we decided to build the “mudroom” bench. I gave P.J. an idea of what I wanted and he went with it. He really did an awesome job. He worked on it in the evenings after work and had it finished within the week.  Now, during the school year it is a perfect home for coats and backpacks and in the summer it is usually home to our swim bag. This was probably our most needed diy project so far!
